How to complete Pokémon GO's Timed Investigation Master Ball Research

The new season has arrived for Pokémon GO and with it comes new and exciting events and rewards, including a new Timed Research.

Timed Investigation: Master Ball will be available for players to complete until 21 November at 8pm local time. This will reward players with the best Poké Ball in the game, the Master Ball.

The Master ball will never fail in catching any Pokémon you encounter in-game, whether in the wild, via Lure Modules, following Raid Battles, or while using your Daily Adventure Incense.

While receiving the Master Ball is the obvious end goal of this quest, you'll also get a lot of XP, too, so we think it’s really worth the effort.

Completing the tasks may look daunting though, but we collated all the information you might need, along with some tips and tricks to complete the research before 21 November.

Catch 1,000 Pokémon (Reward: 8,000 XP)

This may look like a big number, but with 76 days to go, this can easily be crossed off the list. Consistency is the key — you can catch 13-14 Pokémon a day. If your location does not have too many Pokémon, you can use lure modules and take advantage of events like Community Days.

Win 60 Raids (Reward: 8,000 XP)

This task might be better if you have a regular group you can raid with, and it’s much easier if you’re in an area with more active players.

You can schedule raids with a group of friends, join Pokémon GO Communities like Pokémon GO Singapore, or simply check if there’s an ongoing raid in your area.

With 13 weeks to go, you’d need to complete at least 4-5 raids a week if you haven’t begun already.

This is also where Remote Raid passes would come in handy for others. It might be tempting to use your Pokécoins for this task, but try to budget and see if you might need them more for the next task.

Hatch 30 Eggs (Reward: 8,000 XP)

There are a few things you need to remember to make this task a bit easier.

First, remember to keep Adventure Sync on. Hatching eggs is much faster with this feature on because of the extra steps logged. To do this, just go to the Main Menu, Settings, and then tap General. Click on Adventure Sync—and grant permission for Pokémon GO to access Apple Health or Google Fit.

Secondly, as much as possible, try to prioritise 2km and 5km eggs to hatch more. You might also need to invest a few Pokécoins to get some incubators to help you with the task.

Lastly, make sure to check out all the upcoming events — there may be some that allow shorter hatching times.

Catch 100 different species of Pokémon (Reward: 8,000 XP)

This may be a bit trickier than the other tasks. Remember, though, that it’s 100 species after the event has started — and this also means that it doesn’t matter if you’ve caught this Pokémon in the past or not.

Make sure to be consistent in catching Pokémon in the wild, hatch some eggs, and participate in raids and all the other events in the next few months.

Make 120 Excellent Throws (Reward: 8000 XP)

If you’ve been playing for a while now, you probably have your own style on how to achieve this. The key once again ,is consistency: aim for the bull’s eye for every throw. And since you’re on a quest to catch at least 1000 Pokémon anyway, this should give you more chances of getting those excellent throws in.

Complete 150 Field Research Tasks (Reward: 8,000 XP)

This task goes hand in hand with the Pokémon-catching tasks, because you get daily research tasks from Pokéstops.

You can make your gameplay more efficient by catching Pokémon and collecting Pokéballs from Pokéstops together.

Remember, you can delete daily research tasks from your task list. So, remove tasks you don't need and focus on ones you can finish quickly, like using berries to catch Pokémon.

Explore 50 km (Reward: 8000 XP)

We don’t think you’d need to worry about this one if you’re on to complete the other tasks. Again, like we said earlier, just make sure to activate Adventure Sync so more steps are logged.

Spin 300 Pokéstops (Reward: 8000 XP)

Another task that you probably won’t need to worry so much about if you play consistently, and since you need to complete 150 Daily field research tasks anyway.

Earn 100,000 XP and Earn 100,000 Stardust (8,000 XP each)

This looks pretty daunting, but if you participated in last week’s Charmander Community Day Classic, you got 3x Stardust.

On top of that, this week’s A Paldean Adventure event, which runs until 10 September, allows you to get 4x XP and 4x Stardust for XP for catching Pokémon.

Stage rewards for this Timed Research also give you 8,000 XP each, so if you completed all other eight tasks aside above, that already amounts to 64,000 XP.

If you’re on your way to becoming best buddies with another trainer, now’s the time to focus on that too, since this also earns you 100,000 XP.
