Pokemon Go superfan caught playing game on eight phones at once on highway

A US state trooper pulled over what he thought was a disabled vehicle to ask if they needed assistance.

Instead, he found a man playing the video game Pokemon Go on eight phones at the same time.

The driver was stopped on the hard shoulder of a highway in Burien, a suburban city south of Seattle in Washington state.

Washington State Patrol tweeted a photo showing a blue foam square with eight rectangular cut-outs where eight phones logged into Pokemon Go were placed.

Trooper Rick Johnson, spokesman for the patrol, said sergeant Kyle Smith did not issue a ticket because he did not observe the car moving while the driver was using the phones.

Sgt Smith asked the driver to put the phones in the back seat and move along, reminding him the gamer that stopping on the shoulder is for emergencies only.

Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game where players can capture Pokemon in real locations through their mobile phones or tablets.

The fan was caught on Tuesday evening.
