“I think we started campaigning and peaking at the right time in the primary, which was really an uphill battle to win that. And then the last three months, we just haven't really slowed down at all,” Poland said.

“I've worked really hard, and we appreciate our supporters and people involved there to help us. (We're) really humbled by the folks of every county who came out and voted."

Poland has been practicing law for almost 25 years in Montgomery County.

He has served on the city’s Board for Zoning Appeals as well as Guardian Ad Litem in cases for Juvenile Court and for children in domestic law cases.

“I just grew up here, and I just thank the folks of the county so much for putting their faith in me to come in and do the job," he said.

"I'm very excited about coming in and being able to do that.”

Poland graduated with a double major in history and communications at Western Kentucky University and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Nashville School of Law.

Before his election, he was active in the community through various boards as well as volunteer work.
