Police: 1 dead after truck strikes 2 people on Brevard County sidewalk

A woman died and another person was hurt Tuesday night after a pickup truck collided with them on a sidewalk, Melbourne police said.

Shortly after 7 p.m., officers responded to Front Street between New Haven and Melbourne avenues for reports of two people who had been struck by a vehicle.

Police said they arrived to find that both pedestrians had life-threatening injuries after being hit by a Ford pickup that left the roadway and traveled onto the sidewalk.

Investigators said one of the victims, Rikki Grace, 25, of Palm Bay, later died at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

At last report, the name and condition of the other pedestrian were not available.

Traffic homicide investigators said the driver of the truck, Robert Lueck, 29, of Satellite Beach, lost control of the pickup as he was traveling northbound on Front Street.

They determined both pedestrians were on a sidewalk along the east side of the roadway when the crash happened.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Melbourne Police Department at 321-288-8288.
