Police ID motorcyclist shot dead in New Franklin, arrest suspect
Detectives in New Franklin have apprehended a fatal shooting suspect after responding to an unusual motorcycle accident on Dailey Road.
Police said they found a rider dead on the side of the road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday with his motorcycle laying down. The crash “wasn’t consistent” with the damage that would have been expected in a fatal vehicle accident, said Detective Nick Bollas with the New Franklin Police Department.
At the scene, the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Officer discovered bullet wounds in the rider, identified as Jeffrey Alan Fisher of Clinton. Bollas said police contacted witnesses and linked the death to a shooting in the 5400 block of Dailey Road. Fisher was leaving the scene of a domestic altercation, the medical examiner's office said.
Fisher was pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m. The medical examiner's office's autopsy shows the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
Bollas asked anyone with more information on the incident to call him at 330-882-3281.
