Police arrest Maryland man for stealing a woman's car after killing her with a forklift

Charles County detectives apprehended a man who they say killed a woman with a forklift in a Home Depot parking lot in Waldorf, Maryland early Sunday.

The suspect, Bryce Caleb Timothy Brown, 20, broke into a Lowe’s Home Improvement store, stole a forklift, and fled by ramming through the rear gates, according to a statement provided by the sheriff's office.

Police say Brown entered the parking lot of Home Depot from Lowe's for reasons unknown, hitting a parked vehicle with a woman sleeping inside. The woman, who ran after her vehicle was hit, was followed by Brown who police say then struck her with the forklift before stealing her damaged car. Officers discovered the victim's body under the forklift responding to the burglary call.

Brown was arrested late July 2 and has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault and theft, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office. The victim’s vehicle was recovered near the suspect’s house earlier in the day.

The woman has been identified as Gloristine Pinkney, 73, of Waldorf. Police say that she was not known to Brown.
