Police arrest murder suspect Saturday

A Wichita Falls police SWAT team on Saturday afternoon apprehended a man suspected of killing Jorge Gonzalez earlier this month in Wichita Falls, according to a media release.

Adan Chavez, 24, was placed under arrest without incident after the SWAT team served a search warrant and entered a home in the 1100 block of Rowland Road about 1:53 p.m. Saturday, according to the Wichita Falls police media release.

Chavez was being held Saturday in the Wichita County Law Enforcement Center, according to online jail records.

The recommended bond is $1 million for a murder charge against him, according to online jail records. A federal hold has been placed on Chavez by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Chavez had a federal arrest warrant for human smuggling allegations, according to the media release.

This was a joint operation between several agencies and units from within the Wichita Falls Police Department, according to the media release.

Officers with Wichita Falls police Crimes Against Persons Unit and Special Operations Unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Marshals Service have been actively searching for Chavez in connection with Gonzalez's Oct. 1 death, according to the media release.

Gonzalez, 23, was killed Oct. 1 at North Eighth Street and Central Freeway. He was found dead in a parking lot in the 1500 block of North Eighth Street after police responded to a shooting about 4:51 p.m. that day.

No further information was available for release, according to the media release.
