Police arrest suspect after three stores robbed on N. Monroe; bank robbery suspect at large

Tallahassee police arrested a man Friday after a string of robberies and attempted robberies at businesses on North Monroe Street.

Kelvonte Odom, 33, was arrested on charges of robbery, attempted robbery and burglary, the Tallahassee Police Department said in a news release.

The first robbery happened around 8 a.m. Thursday at Walgreens, 2349 N. Monroe St. The suspect, who implied he had a gun, ordered employees to open the register and give him cash. After taking the money, he ran away. TPD said he was not armed.

Around 5:15 a.m. Friday, the suspect hit the Circle K at 1401 N. Monroe St., demanding money and threatening to shoot the clerk.

"A security guard was approaching the store, and the suspect quickly left the scene in a vehicle," TPD said. "Arriving officers reviewed evidence and immediately recognized the suspect."

About half an hour later, the suspect went to the Circle K, 2683 N. Monroe St., and stole money from an open cash register. He was still on scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, police also responded to a robbery of Truist Bank, 102 N. Blair Stone Road. A man robbed the bank around 9:30 a.m. and left with an undisclosed amount of money, TPD said.

"No injuries have been reported and attempts remain ongoing to identify and locate the suspect," the department said.
