Police asking for public's help to ID car in fatal Camden hit-and-run

CAMDEN - Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal collision in Camden.

The collision happened at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon at the corner of Mount Ephraim and Sayres avenues in South Camden. A gold Nissan Maxima struck a motorcycle, Camden County Police Department said. Police responding to the scene found the victim, Willieant Cooper, unconscious, according to Camden County Police Deputy Chief Janell Simpson. The 41-year-old city resident was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he later died.

The other driver immediately fled the scene in the Maxima, police said.

Police are looking for a 2000-2003 Nissan Maxima with extensive damage, a missing rear bumper (which was left at the scene) and a damaged windshield.

Anyone with information on this vehicle is asked to call the Camden County Police Department tip line at 856-757-7042. Anonymous tips may also be sent through the STOPit app.
