Police charge Lexington man with murder in Wednesday shooting

A 46-year-old Lexington man has been charged by law enforcement with felony murder in connection with a shooting death in Davidson County on Wednesday.

David Matthew Cameron, 46, of Lexington was charged with fatally shooting Ellis Coleman Sr. on the 300 block of Pinehaven Drive.

According to law enforcement, at about 11:30 p.m., deputies checked on a call about a shooting in the Central Davidson area. Once there, deputies found a 57-year-old man, later identified as Coleman, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was treated by Davidson County EMS, but died on the scene.

After further investigation, Davidson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cameron on Thursday and charged him with felony murder. He is in the Davidson County jail without bond. He is scheduled for his first court appearance on Jan. 21.
