A mother has been charged in connection with the death of her 5-year-old daughter, Kaysen Blackshear, last year, according to the Springdale Police Department.

Bryce Foster, 26, is wanted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children, according to a news release.

Officials said Foster didn't provide adequate and timely care to Kaysen after recognizing she was in medical distress.

On July 17, Foster provided CPR to Kaysen for several hours before taking her to Liberty Children's Hospital, police said.

By the time Kaysen arrived at the hospital she was already in full cardiac arrest, officials said. She died a few days later.

An investigation by the Hamilton County Coroner's Office determined that Kaysen's death was caused by the delay in providing medical care, the release states.

A social worker said the girl was "non-responsive" when she first arrived at that hospital and was found to have swelling of the brain, injuries to her face and back and a chipped tooth. However, those injuries are not thought to have contributed to her death, officials said.

Kaysen was the subject of a 2019 Enquirer story which reported she suffered from a genetic disorder that caused seizures. The story was written as a partnership with the United Way and, as a result, a vehicle was donated to the family.

The article said that Kaysen had many doctor's appointments and was raised by her single mom.

Anyone with information regarding Foster's whereabouts is urged to call Springdale police at 513-346-5760 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
