Police say a motorcyclist is seriously injured after crashing following a pursuit with officers Tuesday morning along Avenue Q.

The pursuit started about 9 a.m. at 50th Street and Avenue Q and was prompted by the motorcyclist, 30-year-old Torey Timmons, running a red light and evading police, according to a statement from the Lubbock Police Department.

The pursuit was called off around 19th Street and Avenue Q. However, police say Timmons continued north on Avenue Q.

Timmons failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Avenue Q and the eastbound Marsha Sharp Freeway access road, police said, and struck a GMC pickup truck.

Police said Timmons was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries and neither of the two passengers in the GMC pickup truck was injured.
