Police: Mother of child found at local gas station has been located

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — Investigators say the mother of a young boy who was found unattended at a local gas station has been located.

The boy is believed to be about 2 years old. A good Samaritan found him at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Center Heights Service AAA gas station, 3884 Warrensville Center Road, which is near South Pointe Hospital, according to an alert from Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services.

Warrensville Heights police earlier searched the area, but could not find the boy’s parents, according to the alert. Police then took the boy to county child protection workers.

The boy appeared “well-cared for” and “appropriately dressed” but was unable to tell authorities his name, according to the alert.

A dispatcher with Warrensville Heights police confirmed that the mother has been located, but no further information is available at this time.
