Police and City Crews Remove Makeshift Barricades in Uptown Minneapolis

City crews and police removed makeshift barricades from the Uptown area of Minneapolis on Tuesday, June 15, after protesters blocked off sections of a street the day prior to hold a vigil.

The vigil was held on Monday to remember Deona Erickson, who was killed late on Sunday night when a car was driven into a group of demonstrators gathered to protest the June 3 police killing of Winston Smith.

On Tuesday, police reported the arrest of 35-year-old Nicholas D Kraus, who was booked on probable cause criminal vehicular homicide, according to local news reports.

The City of Minneapolis announced plans to order a dispersal on Tuesday in the event that gatherings “go beyond peaceful protests.”
