Police department celebrates Special Olympics champion with parade

One local police department took to the streets to help celebrate a young man who won not only one, but two gold medals at the 2022 Special Olympics Georgia Summer Games.

According to Roswell Police Department, a young man identified as Patrick, was said to have supported the department in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the state race.

The department wanted to return the favor. They celebrated the “hometown champion” by throwing a neighborhood parade Monday afternoon.

Patrick brought home the gold in the 100-meter and 200-meter races at the Special Olympics.

Officers said they wanted to congratulate him and let Patrick know how proud the community is of him.

“I can’t love this enough! Great job, Patrick! Great job, Roswell PD for making this young man’s day,” said Debbie Parrish.

“Roswell, little did you know that you’ve been in the presence of greatness,” the department said.
