Police and family members looking for Bloomington man missing since New Year's Day

Bob Boro has been missing since New Year's Day, and his family is hoping someone knows where the 44-year-old Bloomington man is and will let them know he’s alive and well.

Cassandra Elliott says her former husband is an involved parent who would not let this much time pass without contacting their two children, who are 12 and 14. She and Boro have been divorced a decade and have every-other-week shared custody.

They’ve remained good friends and she’s worried. “He’s an amazing dad. He would never leave the kids like this. Something’s happened.”

A police report says Boro was last seen New Year’s Eve celebrating with friends. His sister reported talking to him on the phone around midnight. Sometime after that, Boro’s gray 2010 Ford F-150 pickup was northbound on Curry Pike and ran off the road near a stop sign at Beasley Drive. The truck traveled through a yard and came to rest against the porch and attached garage of a house at 1824 S. Curry Pike.

The residents told police they had left at 11 p.m. and returned home at 1:20 a.m. to find the crashed and abandoned truck. Flower planters and trash cans were destroyed, according to a police report, but the truck didn’t go past the porch.

Police found Boro’s cell phone on the seat inside the truck; he wasn’t in the vicinity. And he didn’t return to his residence in the 4100 block of Vernal Pike.

Boro was just three-tenths of a mile from home, a one-minute drive, when the crash occurred.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo said Boro was reported missing on Jan. 1 and that there’s an active investigation focused on finding him. Anyone with information can call BPD at 812-339-4477.
