Police and Firefighters on Vancouver Island Free Deer Stuck in Fence

Members of the West Shore RCMP and local firefighters came to the rescue of a deer that got stuck in the iron fence of a residential property in Colwood, Vancouver Island, on February 3.

Officers used hydraulic spreaders to bend the bars and free the deer, police said.

“Generally animal complaints of this nature would go to Conservation officers, however when they are not available police will step in and address the complaint,” said Constable Nancy Saggar of the West Shore RCMP. “We are happy to report the fawn was freed and reunited with its mother.” Credit: West Shore RCMP & Colwood Fire and Rescue via Storyful
