It's not unusual to see police visiting bars and pubs around Sydney, Australia as part of their jobs, but this act of horseplay is a little weird.

A mounted police officer and a horse entered the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi Beach on Sunday afternoon, an unlikely spot for hay. The bizarre moment was spotted by Jonno Seidler who was driving past the hotel.

Spotting the ridiculous sight of the creature chilling in the indoor venue, Seidler and his girlfriend pulled over, where she took a photo of the rather curious happening out of their car's window, according to Fairfax Media.

"It was really strange. I've seen police on horses in Bondi before, but never inside a bar," Seidler told the news outlet.

Drinkers are visibly stunned at the equine parked right up next to their beers, with Seidler estimating that the horse hung inside the bar for around three minutes. Perhaps not quite long enough for a drink.

"I couldn't tell if the horse was spooked or what was going on. I just couldn't fathom what kind of situation you'd need to be in where you'd need to bring a horse into a bar," Seidler told Fairfax Media.

A NSW Police spokesperson told Mashable Australia via email that "Mounted Unit officers patrolling the Bondi area were invited in by the manager of the establishment for a NEIGH-bourly chat." For real.

Whatever the conversation might've been between police and the bar manager, this horsing around is still leaving people scratching their heads.
