Police ID man killed in north Lubbock rollover crash

Police on Monday identified a 49-year-old man killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash overnight in north Lubbock.

Joey Maes was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that was reported about 2:05 a.m. Monday on Erskine Street and North Milwaukee Avenue, according to a statement from Lubbock police.

Investigators believe Maes was driving a passenger car west in the 6500 block of Erskine Street when the vehicle left the roadway. The car then struck a wooden fence and began to roll. Maes was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Other factors contributing to the crash were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
