Police ID Monday morning crash victims as married couple from Grand Ledge

ONEIDA TWP. — Police have released the names of a married couple who died in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning southwest of Grand Ledge.

Ronald Milfred Pioch, 75, and Philomena Christina Pioch, 78, of Grand Ledge, were traveling in a Ford Escape that was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Mt. Hope Highway and Cochran Road shortly after 11 a.m., Michigan State Police said in a news release.

The driver, Ronald Pioch, was eastbound on Mt. Hope when he stopped at a stop sign and then pulled into the path of the southbound pickup, police said.

An undisclosed number of people who were traveling in the Dodge Ram pickup were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Police did not disclose the extent of their injuries or identify the driver.
