Police ID Springfield woman killed in crash. Motorcycle driver found and arrested.

Police have identified a pedestrian killed by a vehicle Saturday evening.

Just before 10 p.m., officers were called to an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a motorcycle near the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Lindberg Street.

Sandra Brown, 59, from Springfield, was walking eastbound across the road, when she was struck by a yellow 1994 Honda motorcycle traveling southbound on Fremont. The motorcyclist fled the scene before officers arrived.

Brown was pronounced deceased on scene, and her family has been notified.

Rodney Shires, a 56 year old from Springfield, was identified as the driver of the motorcycle. Shires was located by officers at his residence and arrested. After being treated at the hospital for minor injuries, Shires was booked into the Greene County Jail.

This is Springfield’s 13th traffic fatality in 2023.
