Police ID Tiverton man in fatal Newport motorcycle crash

NEWPORT — Police on Friday morning identified the 36-year-old man killed in a crash on Memorial Boulevard on July 29.

In an email to The Daily News, Lt. April Amaral said Kyle Andrade of Tiverton was killed when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a garbage truck. Andrade was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The operators of both vehicles were traveling east on Memorial Boulevard, near the intersection of Gibbs Avenue.

“The motorist was behind the truck and accelerated straight to pass the truck who was making a turn at the intersection of Memorial and Gibbs when they struck each other,” police said in the email.

Andrade was pronounced dead by the time Newport police arrived at the scene at 7:31 a.m., according to a July 29 police press release. The garbage truck driver was issued a citation for “Manner of Turn at an Intersection," police said Friday.
