Police ID victim in deadly shooting on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville

Police have identified a 24-year-old who was fatally shot Friday night at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and 40th Avenue North in Nashville.

Miles Benjamin Slay was shot while on foot at 10:40 p.m., police said. Slay died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Gunshots were fired at Slay from the passenger side of an SUV that sped away after the shooting and traveled onto 39th Avenue North, according to police.

A witness gave aid to Slay until an ambulance arrived.
