Police identify man killed in Patton Avenue shooting

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Roanoke Police Department has released the name of the man who was shot and killed on Patton Avenue on Saturday morning.

Roanoke police said the man was identified as 27-year-old Uhura U. Willis.

As we previously reported, just before 5 a.m. on Feb. 17, Roanoke police were notified of a person with a gunshot wound in the 400 block of Patton Avenue NW. Once at the scene, officers found Willis in a wooded area on Patton Avenue with gunshot wounds.

Department officials said life-saving measures were performed; however, Willis was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, officers discovered evidence in the 400 block of Patton Avenue; however, no suspects were located at the scene. Investigators believe the suspect is traveling in a maroon 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude with license plate TSB7187.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
