Police identify two people who died in wrong-way Knoxville crash

A second person has died after a three-vehicle crash on Friday, according to a press release from the Knoxville Police Department.

At around 1:30 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a crash on Interstate 140 West near the Kingston Pike exit, a press release stated. A Honda sedan, a Nissan SUV and an Acura collided.

Police said Eduardo Deavila, 33, of Knoxville, was driving the Honda the wrong way on the interstate when he collided with the Nissan, which then hit the Acura, the spokesperson said.

The driver of the Acura, James Wilson, 49, of Rockwood, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Stephen Traub, 59, of Louisville, Tennessee, died Saturday, a release stated.

Deavila remains hospitalized but will be charged upon his release, the police department spokesperson said.

Deavila was facing one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault after causing the three-vehicle collision, police said. Amended charges are being considered for the wrong-way driver who caused the crash, the release stated.
