A terrorism investigation was launched after a teacher was beheaded in the street in the northwest Parisian suburb of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine on Friday evening, October 16, reports said.
Police reportedly pursued the suspect into the neighboring town of Eragny, where he was shot and killed.
According to reports, the victim, a middle-school history teacher, had recently shown caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad to his students while teaching about freedom of expression.
French anti-terrorism authorities confirmed that an investigation would be launched into the attack.
