Police investigate gunshots fired near Crowley High School. No students were involved

Police from Crowley ISD and the city of Crowley are investigating gunshots that were fired near a high school Tuesday evening, the school district said in a social media post.

At around 6:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a call about shots fired at the intersection of Longhorn Trail and Eagle Drive, near Crowley High School.

Officers arrived at the scene and attempted to locate the suspects’ vehicles that reportedly fled into Fort Worth, according to a police statement.

No students were involved in the shooting and no one was injured, but property damage from the gunfire was reported, officials said. A Crowley ISD official on Wednesday declined to give details of any damage to school property.

According to parents who posted on social media, shots were fired on the street outside the school’s indoor football practice facility, where student athletes and band members were gathered. Police referred questions regarding school activities at the time of the shooting to school district officials, who declined to make any comment beyond the written statement.

In an updated statement Wednesday, Crowley police said investigators were able to obtain video footage, pictures and eyewitness statements. “Due to these solid leads, the Crowley Police Department can confirm that this was an isolated incident between two groups of young adults,” the news release said.

The evidence shows that two vehicles involved in the shooting immediately fled north on Eagle Drive to Crowley-Cleburne Road into Fort Worth, police said.

No arrests have been made, and investigators are working to identify suspects, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Crowley Police Department at 817-297-2276 or email Detective J. White at jwhite@ci.crowley.tx.us.
