Police investigate separate vehicle crashes

Sep. 20—Separate vehicle crashes have kept first responders and police officers busy of late in Milledgeville.

The latest collision happened Friday morning and seriously injured a 56-year-old Putnam County man.

The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. at the intersection of North Columbia Street and Hillside Drive, according to an accident report filed by Milledgeville Police Department Officer Tommy Puerto.

The injured man was identified as Mark A. Fuller, of Eatonton.

Fuller was treated at the scene by firefighters/first responders with Milledgeville Fire Rescue Services, and personnel with Grady Emergency Medical Services. He later was taken by ambulance to Atrium Health Navicent, The Medical Center in Macon.

Puerto said in his report that Fuller was driving a 1996 Toyota T-100 southbound on North Columbia Street, while the driver of a 2019 Nissan Kicks, identified as Elaine A. Goggans, of Milledgeville, was traveling east on Hillside Drive.

Goggans reportedly told the investigating police officer that she was yielding to the traffic south on North Columbia Street, but she never saw Fuller's vehicle, thus she struck it.

After the collision between the two vehicles, Fuller's vehicle left the roadway and rolled over. The vehicle came to a final rest off the roadway near a tree line, Puerto said.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damages.

In an unrelated wreck, another two-vehicle collision led to a roll-over.

That crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. last Thursday at the intersection of North Jefferson Street and Dunlap Road.

The wreck was investigated by Milledgeville Police Officer Carmine Gurliacci.

Foutunately, there were no serious injuries.

Gurliacci's report indicated that one of the drivers was a 16-year-old.

The teen was driving a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder north on North Jefferson Street and preparing to make a left turn onto Dunlap Road.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2018 Toyota RAV4, was identified as Lillian A. Braddy, of Milledgeville, who reportedly was driving southbound on North Jefferson Street.

The teen reportedly told the police officer she never saw the other vehicle and turned in front of it.

Both wreck reports were released Monday afternoon by Milledgeville Police Sgt. Thomas Smith.
