Police investigate stabbing of man on Saturday in Falmouth

Falmouth and state police detectives are investigating a stabbing at a Falmouth apartment complex on Saturday afternoon, a Falmouth Police Department official said in a statement Monday.

Police were called to the Gosnold Grove apartments at 4:44 p.m. at 364 East Falmouth Highway. They found a man with multiple stab wounds, according to an email sent to the Times.

“The incident is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, assisted by the Falmouth Police Detective Division,” Falmouth police Lt. Michael Simoneau wrote.

A man suffering multiple stab wounds was flown to an off-Cape Hospital for treatment Saturday afternoon. The stabbing occurred at about 4:45 p.m. at the Gosnold Grove Apartments at 364 East Falmouth Highway, according to the Falmouth Deputy Fire Chief Scott Thrasher.

Russ Eonas, second assistant district attorney for the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, declined to comment Monday on the incident, saying “We’re not releasing any information at this time.” Falmouth Fire Department was called to the scene on Saturday but declined to comment Monday. Mashpee Fire Department rescue personnel responded because the Falmouth department was busy with a structure fire.

The victim was taken to Falmouth Hospital before being flown to an off-Cape hospital. No information was available Monday on the condition of the victim.

Two previous stabbings in Falmouth

Last October, a fatal stabbing occurred one block away from the scene of Saturday’s incident, at 442 East Falmouth Highway. The victim, Corey Lowe, was brought to a Boston-area hospital but died the next day.

Just a month prior, in September 2022, another fatal stabbing took place nearby, at 250 Davisville Road in East Falmouth. The victim, Douglas Rose, died of his wounds in Falmouth Hospital.

Between the two cases from last fall, there are five defendants that have been indicted on murder charges, according to court officials. Court cases are pending on all five, and four have hearing dates set for this summer.

Gosnold Grove is a 33-unit apartment complex owned by Wingate, which is based in Newton.
