8 armed robberies within an hour-and-a-half on Northwest Side

CHICAGO — Chicago police are now investigating a string of eight armed robberies that occurred within about an hour-and-a-half of each other Thursday morning on the city’s Northwest Side and appear to be connected.

Seven of the armed robberies happened in the Logan Square neighborhood and one happened in the Hermosa neighborhood.

According to police, in each incident, the offenders arrived in a dark-colored sedan. They exited the vehicle armed with handguns and proceeded to rob victims of personal belongings before fleeing the scene.

Police say the robberies occurred at the following locations and times:

  • 4400 block of West Armitage Avenue at 4:30 a.m.

  • 3300 block of West Armitage Avenue between 5:20 and 5:40 a.m.

  • 2000 block of North Avers Avenue at 5:26 a.m.

  • 1800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue at 5:30 a.m.

  • 3500 block of West Dickens Avenue at 5:35 a.m.

  • 200 block of North Springfield Avenue between 5:35 and 5:43 a.m.

  • 2300 block of North Spaulding Avenue at 5:45 a.m.

  • 3300 block of West Armitage Avenue at 6:03 a.m.

Police advise anyone to call 911 immediately if you are a victim or witness to a crime and provide a detailed description of the offender or offenders and involved vehicles.
