Police investigating death of 21-year-old at Stetson University campus housing Saturday night, DeLand Police says

DeLand police are investigating the death of Kaleb Walker, 21, on Stetson University campus housing Saturday night, the department said.

Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday police responded to on-campus housing after a man was found unresponsive who was later identified as Walker and was later pronounced dead, DeLand police department said.

No foul play is suspected, according to the release.

The DeLand Police criminal investigations division is investigating as a matter of protocol as they work alongside Stetson University’s Campus Public Safety team, according to the release.

“The Stetson Community is deeply saddened by the passing of student Kaleb Walker on Saturday night,” said Cory Lancaster, Stetson University spokesperson in a statement. “Kaleb was transported Saturday night from his on-campus residence in House D to AdventHealth DeLand, where he was later pronounced deceased.”

No cause of death has been determined, Lancaster said.

Stetson University will hold a private gathering today at the university for students and faculty, Lancaster said.

“We have been communicating with and supporting Kaleb’s family,” Lancaster said. “Our condolences and heartfelt sympathy go out to them and to all members of our community who knew and loved him.”
