Police are investigating the drowning death of 10-month-old boy Saturday morning

PROVIDENCE — The Providence police and state Child Protective Services are investigating the death of a 10-month-old boy Saturday morning.

The police received a report of a baby having drowned in a bathtub in the Chad Brown housing complex at about 10:30 a.m., Maj. David Lapatin said. Officers responding to the scene found that the child was dead.

No further details of the death were available.

Kerri White, spokeswoman for the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families, confirmed in an email that "Child Protective Services is investigating this incident."
