1 killed, 2 hurt, including child, in Federal Way crash

Police are investigating after a fatal crash near Winco Foods in Federal Way.

Officers were called to Southwest Campus Drive for the two-vehicle crash at 2:38 a.m. Friday. A car and an SUV were involved.

When police arrived, bystanders were trying to save an injured passenger from the first vehicle. Officers took over until medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The driver and a child passenger from the second vehicle were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The Federal Way Police Department traffic unit is investigating and working to find out whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Police said the driver who caused the crash stayed at the scene.

Southwest Campus Drive was closed between First Avenue South and Seventh Avenue Southwest during the investigation.
