Police investigating fatal crash in Simsbury; vehicle had left roadway
One person is dead following a single-car crash in Simsbury on Christmas Day.
The accident was reported before 11:15 a.m. in the area of Sand Hill Road and Red Oak Court where police and medics responded after receiving multiple 911 calls about a crash, according to the Simsbury Police Department. First responders discovered that the vehicle involved left the road and struck a tree.
Police said lifesaving efforts were performed on the the driver — who has not been identified — before he was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation suggests the driver was headed east on Sand Hill Road before he left the road and struck a tree in the area of Red Oak Court, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
