Police are investigating hate speech fliers distributed in Whitefish Bay

Whitefish Bay police are investigating the distribution of hate-speech flyers in the suburb over the weekend.

Village President Kevin Buckley wrote on the village's Facebook page that more than 70 of the flyers were distributed illegally to residents near Klode Park and other locations.

The message on the front of the flyer was, "Who is working in the interest of white Americans?" while the flip side linked to a website promoting white supremacy with Nazi imagery, according to a Channel 12 report.

A supervisor with the Whitefish Bay Police Department declined to comment, referring questions to Buckley, the village president. Buckley did not immediately respond to inquiries Monday.

In his social media post, Buckley wrote, "I am saddened that our community was targeted by individuals seeking attention for their hateful ideology. The Village of Whitefish Bay is committed to continuing to make Whitefish Bay an inclusive, accepting village, where all are welcomed. While the materials did not include any explicit threats, we are taking this incident seriously and the Police Department will work to enhance safety throughout the community."

Buckley asked that anyone with information should contact the Whitefish Bay Police Department at 414-962-3830.
