Police investigating overnight shooting in East Amarillo; 1 injured

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting in which one person was injured and no arrests have yet been made.

According to a police news release, Amarillo officers were sent to the 1300 block of Kimberly Drive at 2:53 a.m. Tuesday on reports of a fight.

While officers were on their way to the scene, they were informed about another caller who stated a man came to their door with injuries, saying he had been shot. The male victim was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old man was interviewed by detectives at the scene and identified as the possible suspect; however, no arrests were made due to conflicting stories about the incident. Residents in the area who heard the incident were interviewed, and officers checked for any evidence from camera surveillance video from surrounding homes.

This investigation is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
