According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office, police responded to an Elm Street home around 11:15 a.m. after receiving a report of two deceased people on the property.

A 45-year-old male was found outside of the home with an apparent fatal gunshot wound while a 45-year-old female was found inside the residence also suffering from an apparent fatal gunshot wound.

A spokesperson in the DA’s office confirmed to Boston 25 the man and woman were husband and wife.

Police have deemed that there is no threat to public safety but local residents told Boston 25 they were still shaken by the news.

“It’s just a very quiet neighborhood and you know it’s just shocking to hear that something like this might have happened, and so sad,” said Karen Baynes.

A few neighbors say the couple who died had a daughter and there’s a swing set in their yard – but police have not confirmed that yet.

“You just don’t know what’s going on inside people’s houses, I just feel for everybody involved,” said Baynes.
