MARSHALL — Michigan State Police troopers are investigating the theft of a mini-excavator from the road construction site on the I-69 and I-94 interchange.

The incident occurred at 7 p.m. Sunday, police said in a news release. The suspect was driving a "newer black in color" RAM crew-cab pick-up and pulling a black equipment hauler flatbed gooseneck trailer, according to police.

The suspect was last seen traveling north on Old 27 Highway. The excavator is a yellow 2017 CAT 303.5 with a small front bucket and rubber tracks.
