Police investigating weekend fatality involving speeding Corvettes in Chisago County
Authorities in Chisago County are asking for the public’s help in identifying a possible eyewitness to a fatal crash on Saturday morning in Chisago Lake Township.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 10 a.m. Saturday of a single-vehicle crash on Lofton Avenue near 250th Street in Chisago Lake Township. Witnesses told police that there were four Corvettes traveling southbound on Lofton Avenue, and the lead one lost control and ran off the road.
The Corvette struck a utility pole and rolled several times, eventually coming to rest upside down with its driver, David A. McLean, 38, of Brooklyn Park, pinned underneath. McLean, the sole occupant, died at the scene, according to a press release issued by the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office.
Speed appears to be a contributing factor, officials said.
While investigating the crash, investigators learned that a red truck or SUV may have been in the area at the time of the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information pertaining to the crash, is asked to contact Sgt. Kris Scott at 651-775-9981.
