Stabbing leaves 1 dead, another hospitalized Sunday in central Sioux Falls

The Sioux Falls Police Department is investigating a weekend homicide that left one person dead and another hospitalized, Lt. Nick Butler said Monday morning during the department's daily police briefing with media.

Isaiah Rain Dubray, 24, was arrested early Monday morning on charges including first-degree murder and aggravated assault, Butler said.Police were called at 5:24 a.m. Sunday to an apartment building near the intersection of West 9th Street and South Duluth Avenue, when a witness found 37-year-old Stewart Wayne Mousseaux Jr. in a hallway, suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to court documents. Officers arrived shortly afterward, but despite life-saving efforts Mousseaux Jr. died.

Officers learned that Mousseaux Jr. had come from an apartment in the building, court documents stated. Officers found blood and the stairway and wall as they approached. During a sweep of the apartment, they also found 46-year-old Sioux Cheyenne Garnier-Stanley, who had "an unknown number of stab wounds" and was severely wounded.

Garnier-Stanley was taken to a local hospital, and Butler said Monday morning her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Court documents say witnesses had seen the three people together prior to the incident, and police accessed Mousseaux Jr.'s Facebook account, where he had recently been messaging Dubray about meeting up.

Additionally, documents say Mousseaux Jr. said "Tell 'em it was Zach Dubray" to the witness who found him in the hallway.

Dubray's bond amount was listed at $1 million, according to the Minnehaha County jail log.
