Police have launched a murder investigation after a teenager was stabbed to death in north London.

Officers and paramedics were called to Tottenham High Road in Haringey at 5.30pm on Friday (30 September) where they found a man, believed to be in his late teens, with stab injuries.

Despite their best efforts, he died a short time later.

The Met Police said an urgent murder investigation had been launched but no arrests have yet been announced.

The force said: "Enquiries are ongoing to ensure that the victim’s family have been informed. They will be supported by specialist officers."

It said a post-mortem examination was due to be arranged.

Police urged communities to help play their role in tackling violent crime and urged anyone who might have information to get in touch.

In August, shocking statistics showed the level of knife crime offences committed by children.

In the year to March 2022 the total number of knife crime offences committed by 10-17 year olds in England and Wales was 3,490, according to the Ministry of Justice.

In total, there were 19,555 knife crime offences in the same period, up 5% from the previous figure of 18,627 – but down from a peak of 22,183 in 2019.
