Connecticut homicide suspect found in New Hampshire

The suspect in a homicide that took place Sunday morning in Chaplin has been arrested in Seabrook, New Hampshire, police said.

Matthew Candler, 46, was taken into custody Tuesday at the Seabrook Inn. Connecticut State Police credit the Seabrook police, New Hampshire State Police, the Salisbury, Massachusetts Police Department and other law enforcement agencies in helping to locate Candler.

According to Troop D, Connecticut state troopers responded to reports of an assault with life-threatening injuries at 214 Miller Road in Chaplin at about 6:12 a.m. Sunday and found Jeffrey C. Rawson, 51, of Chaplin, dead.

Candler is believed to have driven a light blue 1989 Ford F-350 and a Minnesota license plate at the time of the homicide. The truck was located in Salisbury, Massachusetts, according to police.

Candler is expected to be extradited on a felony warrant to Connecticut.
