South Windsor man arrested in connection to Subway robbery in Vernon

A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection to a robbery at a Subway restaurant in Vernon on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The Vernon Police Department responded to a Subway restaurant at 53 Hartford Turnpike for a robbery around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police announced they were searching for a suspect who robbed the restaurant in tan pants, a blue sweatshirt, a blue surgical mask and gloves. Police said the man implied he had a firearm and left the restaurant with an undetermined amount of money and drove toward Manchester in a newer grey Toyota Sienna.

Police located Justin Richard of South Windsor and his vehicle on Thursday. According to police, Richard confessed to his involvement in the robbery.

Richard was charged with first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of the peace. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Friday.
