Man arrested in connection to road rage shooting in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Fairfax County police said Monday that they arrested a man who shot another driver in Centreville on Saturday.

Police said that on April 13, just after 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Compton Road and Centreville Road for reports of a man shooting at another car while he was driving.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said the victim, who was the only one in the car, passed Brian Fuentes Ruiz, 22, on Compton Road and that Fuentes Ruiz began following the victim before he started shooting at him.

The victim was not hurt. He and Fuentes Ruiz do not know each other. FCPD said officers recovered a gun from Fuentes Ruiz’s car.

Police said the charges against Fuentes Ruiz are: Attempted Malicious Wounding by Shooting, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Shooting from a Vehicle, Maliciously Shooting at an Occupied Vehicle, and Brandishing.

As of Monday, he was being held without bond.
