On Sunday, around 2:20 p.m., the victim was able to escape the apartment and call police.

Officers arrived and tried to convince the suspect to come out of the apartment but he refused. That’s when the situation was declared a barricade and additional resources were requested to the scene.

Around 9:49 p.m., the suspect agreed to open the apartment door and he was arrested.

He was identified as 38-year-old Charles Thompson Jr. of Northwest.

He was charged with assault with intent to commit first degree sexual abuse, kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon (gun).

MPD later discovered the gun he had was a “replica.”
