Police say an Ohio man stole a car while a person was asleep in the backseat.

A Bloomville, Ohio, man was arrested Saturday after investigators said he stole a white Audi while a person was asleep in the backseat.

The passenger sent text messages to the police telling them where to find the car, the Tiffin Police Department said in a press release.

Justin Vaughn is charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping, fleeing and eluding police and theft.

Tiffin police said they attempted to stop the car after the passenger had started texting authorities with information about the theft.

Officers tried to pull Vaughn over, but he sped off, officials said. The chase crossed the county line into Crawford County and an officer eventually performed a "slow-speed vehicle termination maneuver" and stopped the car.

Tiffin is located between Toledo, Cleveland and Columbus.

The passenger was unharmed. Medical personnel treated Vaughn at the scene and released him into the custody of police.

Vaughn is being held at the Hancock County Jail on a $25,000 bond awaiting hearings in his case.
