Police: Man wanted in fatal Mount Auburn shooting arrested by Marshals in Detroit

A lawsuit argues a Cincinnati police officer started a romantic relationship with a county worker and gained access to confidential records.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man in Detroit Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in Mount Auburn, according to Cincinnati police.

Jarel Jones, 34, of Findlay, Ohio, was arrested on an open murder warrant out of Cincinnati, police said in a news release.

Jones shot 22-year-old Joslynn Brown following an argument on Feb. 15, police said in an affidavit filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

The affidavit states that the shooting occurred in the hallway of the apartment complex on Malvern Place where Brown lived. She died on the scene.

In court filings, police said the charges against Jones were based on witness statements as well as video and forensic evidence.

Jail records show Jones is currently being held at the Andrew C. Baird Detention Facility in Wayne County Michigan.
