Police: Murder victim died in ambush at Gloucester Township motel

GLOUCESTER TWP. - The victim of a predawn shooting here was lured to his death, authorities say.

Tarik Greene, 28, was fatally shot as he left a room at a Black Horse Pike motel early on Feb. 22, according to a court record asserting probable cause for charges against a suspect.

A Philadelphia man, 26-year-old Kacy Banks, was arrested Wednesday, March 15, in connection with Greene's death, said the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Surveillance video showed Banks, who was standing behind a wall at a second-floor stairwell, shot Greene as the victim left a room at the Howard Johnson Inn around 2:20 a.m., the probable cause statement alleges.

A woman then exited the room and left in a car driven by Banks, the statement says.

When questioned by police, the woman said she and Banks "would have men come to the hotel to have sex with her with the intent to rob them."

She said Banks and Greene had a dispute in the room, and that Banks jumped from a second-floor balcony.

"Banks then waited for the victim to exit the room and fired a single round at him," the statement alleged.

Where is Kacy Banks now?

It said Banks was identified as the person who had obtained the motel room.

Police found Greene after responding to a 911 call around 3 a.m. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital around 4:45 a.m., the prosecutor's office said.

It identified Greene as a Millville resident. A family obituary said he was from Willingboro.

Banks is charged with felony murder, robbery and a weapons offense.

The charges are only allegations. Banks has not been convicted in the case.

Banks was arrested in Philadelphia, where he is being held pending extradition to New Jersey.
