Police: No foul play suspected after pickup found submerged in St. Clair River

Police do not believe foul play was a factor after a vehicle was found in the St. Clair River Thursday.

Rescue crews responded to the river off the 3400 block of Military Street after a U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft spotted a submerged vehicle in the water at about 10:30 a.m. The driver was found deceased inside.

Port Huron Police Capt. Brian Kerrigan said Monday investigators located tire tracks in a vacant lot across from St. Clair Landings that may have been caused when the vehicle entered the water.

While police have not yet determined when or why the vehicle entered the water, investigators do not believe another vehicle was involved, Kerrigan said.

While foul play is not believed to be a factor in the incident, Kerrigan said police are still waiting for results from the St. Clair County Medical Examiner's investigation.

The man inside the vehicle was identified as a 47-year-old Kimball man.
