A Chinese court on Friday sentenced Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu to 13 years in prison on charges including rape. Beijing’s Chaoyang District Court said Wu was given 11 years and 6 months for a 2020 rape, and 1 year and 10 months for the “crime of assembling a crowd to engage in sexual promiscuity” in a 2018 event in which he and others allegedly assaulted two women they had gotten drunk. The court said the three victims in the rape case had also been drunk and were unable to consent.

Three men were arrested after robbing a Thai restaurant in California and attempting to kidnap the business’s property owner on Thanksgiving morning. Two men wearing hoodies were captured on surveillance footage breaking into a Thai Tuk Tuk restaurant in the 700 block of West Sixth Street in Corona at around 4 a.m. on Thursday. According to detectives, the building’s property owner, who lives nearby, was alerted by the alarm and arrived on the scene.

At a hearing on Wednesday, a judge determined that Christian M. Kris Wu fined $84 million for tax evasion after being sentenced to 13 years in prison for sex crimes
Chinese Canadian actor and singer Kris Wu was fined nearly $84 million for tax evasion less than two hours after he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for rape on Friday. The 32-year-old singer, whose real name is Wu Yifan, was ordered to pay 600 million yuan (approximately $83.6 million) by the Beijing Municipal Tax Service for hiding personal income and other tax-related offenses. Local taxation authorities in Beijing said Wu hid his income through domestic and foreign affiliated enterprises, evading 95 million yuan (approximately $13.2 million) worth of taxes from 2019 to 2020.
The 32-year-old former global face of Louis Vuitton, Porsche, and Bulgari will be deported from China after serving his sentence.
